Griffin’s Survivor power bank charger is more expensive than comparable power banks, but none of those can take this kind of beating. This portable power bank is a rugged enough to be called Survivor and cover with an extraordinary lifetime warranty.
What we like most about the Griffin Survivor is its design. This is a portable power bank, rounded on the edges, which fits snugly in the hand at just 1.2 x 2 x 4.9 inches and 8.3 ounces. Encased in a black grippe rubber coating, it not only feels comfortable to hold but is rugged and tough.
Tested to Military Standard 810G, Survivor Portable Power Bank provides up to 6.6 foot drop protection and impact resistant defense from falls on hard surfaces like concrete, thanks to a completely rubber armored. It also has a self-sealing flap that covers its ports when not in use, protected the ports from the elements, such as rain and snow, keeps clean and dry at all times.
The Griffin Survivor has an IP66 rating, which means this portable power bank is both waterproof and dustproof, so you can take the Griffin Survivor with you everywhere, without any worry. Ideal for taking to the beach, on holiday, etc.
With a 10,050 mAh charging capacity, it should offer at least 7000 mAh (typically around 70% is acceptable) to your connected devices. We’d expect the Griffin Survivor to offer around four full charges for most iPhones, and between two and three full charges for Android phones. However, with a 10.5W (2.1A) USB output, it’s fast and has enough capacity that you could conceivably connect a tablet instead.
Charging is simple and automatic, just plug in your device to begin. Once charging is complete, it will automatically disconnect from your device, which prevents power being wasted. There’s also a power button on the side, you can turn it off and on again if charging task doesn’t happen automatically. This can also be used to activate the power gauge, which uses four LEDs to show you how much power remains in the bank, each counts down in 25% units from 100% to zero as you drain the battery.
The Survivor portable power bank also has a fast 10W (2A) micro USB input for recharging the power bank, and it will allow you to charge both it and a connected device at once (known as pass-through charging). That’s really convenient when you want to charge both your phone and power bank on a daily basis, and have only one USB plug.
You may have seen power banks that support the fastest Quick Charge 3.0 on both their input and output, power banks with additional USB-C outputs/inputs, and Lightning outputs. Although the Survivor is fast, but it’s by no means the fastest available and it’s not going to be a good buy if you have multiple gadgets to charge.
It seems too expensive for a portable power bank of this capacity, but the Griffin Survivor has a unique rugged charm, lightweight enough for easy to travel with. Great for every outdoor enthusiast and physical workers who need dustproof and waterproof power bank. It’s reasonably fast plus there are some nice extras, such as impact resistant defense, pass-through charging, and a lifetime guarantee. If you looking for rugged design and the price is not all, then this may be the great power bank for you.
