SPT Countertop Dishwasher Review

Written by

Countertop dishwashers are very popular with apartment dwellers because they’re inexpensive, compact and portable, don’t require the sort of plumbing work. We purchased SPT Countertop Dishwasher SD-2201W and put it through the same tests that we use for bigger dishwashers.

We found that the SPT Countertop Dishwasher leaving dishes cleaner than many built-in units, and certainly cleaner than you could ever get them by hand. It suitable for small apartment, it’s time to stop hand washing your dishes for only $2XX.

Design

The front door houses the control panel, there are two hoses that join a “quick connect” mount that should attach to any faucet. One hose takes in fresh water, the other drains dirty water into the sink. Don’t forget to purchase a small 15/16 inch to 55/64 inch faucet adapter together to avoid the problem for the faucet size.

For the inside, there’s room for four full place settings in a single rack, a removable filter, a stainless tub and a cutlery basket. It’s nearly same to all other compact dishwashers.

Features

SPT Countertop Dishwasher provide five cycles, going from heavy duty to quick. Also come with a rinse option, for convenient if you’re storing the dishwasher after a wash and don’t want it to smell like food residue.

It’s not a good soundproofing, you’ll know when it’s working. There’s a different hum when the pump is pushing water out of the drain, and a little noise when cleaning is ongoing. However, it’s quiet enough for the complaints about the dishes piled up in the sink.

Performance

Cycles on the SD-2201W are pretty quick, going from 1.51 hours for a Heavy Duty cycle, and just 49 minutes for the “Speed” cycle, while the Normal cycle takes 1.15 hours.

Dishes emerged relatively clean after Normal the cycle finish. The Speed cycle did the job almost as well, in less time. For Heavy Duty cycle, dessert pans and messy lasagna emerged entirely clean, though some cheese remained. However, you can easily clean with a little pre-washing.

The SPT Countertop Dishwasher SD-2201W is an Energy Star rated appliance, and lived up to its classification. When we calculated, the individual washes would run between six and eleven cents, while total yearly cost of running would be $18.

Conclusion

If you want to install a dishwasher but you’ve got limited space and can’t redesign your kitchen, the SPT Countertop Dishwasher SD-2201W is a good choice. It’s compact, energy efficient, and really gets your dishes clean. If you looking for a new dishwasher for your apartment, for $2XX, say goodbye to dishpan hands today!
